Position Summary
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for driving commercial roofing sales through technical expertise, disciplined sales execution, and strong operational alignment. This role requires a consultative sales professional who can manage long-cycle commercial opportunities, conduct accurate inspections, coordinate closely with operations, and build long-term customer relationships.
Essential Job Functions
• Conduct on-site commercial roof inspections, measurements, and preliminary scoping.
• Align sales activity with General Managers, Superintendents, Survey Technicians, and Estimating.
• Manage the full sales cycle from lead qualification through close.
• Maintain consistent customer communication during long sales cycles.
• Ensure accurate site data handoff for estimating and proposals.
• Utilize CRM to manage pipeline, documentation, and forecasting.
• Build trust-based customer and manufacturer relationships.
• Represent company standards and brand professionally.
• Meet defined sales activity and revenue expectations.
• Participate in sales meetings online and/or in person as required.
Secondary Job Functions
• Proactively generate new business through referrals and outreach.
• Participate in sales, manufacturer, and industry training.
• Support branch-level sales initiatives.
• Assist with customer education on incentives and roofing options.
• Support mentoring of new sales reps when needed.
Job Requirements
• Ability to safely access and inspect commercial rooftops.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
• Willingness to travel locally.
Qualifications
• 3–5+ years of outside or B2B sales experience.
• Experience managing long sales cycles.
• CRM proficiency and sales process discipline.
• Strong technical aptitude.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
